Furthermore, an Intensive Green Roof provides habitat for wildlife and is a nature based SuDS solution (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) because Green Roofs intercept rain water, which can be slowly released through evaporation and plant uptake. Should excess water need to be directed to an outlet, this will be at a much slower rate than would be possible with an impervious roof surface.
