Tree pits are a type of Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SuDS) as they intercept rain water and clean the water as it drains through the soil profile. Tree Pits deal with rain water in a number of ways including allowing water to evaporate from the surface of leaves, plant uptake and moving water out of the local soil profile through the extensive root systems of trees.
